GT Racing Gaming Chair: Unboxing, Assembly and First Sit
ReviewBy SuperZydan3 min read
Bought it myselfI bought this myself. Nobody paid me or sent me anything for this review.
This model isn't sold anymore, but GTPLAYER still makes similar chairs. I've linked a few current ones below.
This chair is for my younger son, LinkNova. It's the white and black one, and I opened the box on camera the day it showed up and built it right there.
Putting it together
Everything comes in its own packaging: the back, the seat, the base, five legs, the wheels, the gas lift, both arm pieces, the footrest, a lumbar pillow and a headrest pillow. It comes with the screws and a tool, and every step was easy.
- Base: the five legs each go in with a single bolt, then the wheels just push in.
- Gas lift: slides right into the base, and a cover goes over it.
- Seat mechanism: four bolts and four washers. Face the front of the mechanism toward the front of the seat.
- Footrest rails: two bolts on each side. They look the same either way.
- Arms: four screws each.
- Back: the bracket goes on the back rest with four screws and washers. There's a green arrow sticker that tells you which way is up. Then it slides onto the seat and takes four more.
- Armrest pads: there's no left or right, just arrows pointing to the front. Two bolts each.
- Footrest: slides into the rails. One small screw on the back stops it from pulling all the way out.
- Pillows: the straps clip around the back.
How it adjusts
There are two levers under the seat. One reclines the back, and it goes pretty far back. Pull it again and it comes back up. The other one raises and lowers the seat. You can also leave the tilt unlocked or lock it at any angle.
The armrests go up and down, slide in and out, and turn sideways. The footrest flips up so you can kick your feet up.
A couple of days later
I made a short after two days with it. For the record, I'm 5'7" and about 170 lb. At the highest setting my feet barely touch the floor, but it goes plenty low. It's comfortable, it seems like great quality, and I like it.
What I liked
- Every step of assembly was easy. Each part is just a few bolts.
- Lots of adjustment: recline, height, tilt lock and armrests that move three ways.
- The footrest has a stop so it can't slide out.
- Felt good on the first sit with the lumbar pillow on.
Heads up
- The box is heavy. Open it where you're going to build it.
- At full height my feet barely touched the floor, and I'm 5'7". Shorter people will want it lower.
- Face the seat mechanism the right way before you bolt it down.
Key specs
From what I put together and show in the video:
- Reclining back with a lever, plus a tilt lock
- Gas lift seat height adjustment
- Armrests that go up and down, in and out, and turn
- Slide-out footrest
- Lumbar pillow and headrest pillow
- Five-leg base on wheels
Who it's for
Kids and teens who game, or anyone who wants a racing-style chair with a footrest without spending a ton. If you want lumbar support built into the back instead of a pillow, look at the alternatives below.
My take
It was super easy to put together, and it's pretty cozy. It feels good, it seems like great quality, and I like it.
