Yeelight Curtain Lights Review: Smart LED Lights for the Holidays

Yeelight sent us their curtain lights, and we put them up in the windows facing the street so everybody outside can see them. Perfect for Christmas, and for a lot of other things too.

Putting them up

They spread out really nice and they're pretty long. It comes with six hooks and two ways to hang them. You can hammer the little nails into the wall, or, if you don't want to put holes in your wall, use the 3M tape on the back of the hook. We went with the nails and spaced them out as evenly as we could. Super easy install.

At night

They look beautiful, even on a plain solid color. The presets are where it gets fun: a Christmas tree (my favorite), a wreath that swings back and forth, hearts flowing from the bottom to the top, Santa Claus dancing, even a birthday cake.

The coolest feature is DIY mode. You draw whatever you want in the Yeelight app and it shows up on the curtain. I drew a heart and then a line through it. If you're an artist, you can make pretty much anything.

There's also a music mode where the lights move to music. You pick the sound source and the rhythm effect. And there's a pure color mode if you just want one solid color.

What I liked

• Quick install with either nails or 3M tape
• Lots of presets, holiday and otherwise
• Drawing your own designs in the app
• Music sync

Heads up

• Plan your hook spacing before you start so they hang evenly.
