GameSir Tarantula Pro Wireless Controller: Unboxing and Review

ReviewBy SuperZydan2 min read

GiftedGameSir sent me this controller for free. No money changed hands, and all opinions are mine.

GameSir sent me their new Tarantula Pro wireless controller, and it has tons of features.

In the box

The controller, a charging stand, a USB connector, a cable and a little instruction manual.

The features

  • Swappable face buttons: if you don't like where X and Y are, you can pop them off and switch them.
  • Nine programmable buttons, including two on the back. If you don't want to hit the back buttons by accident, there's a switch that locks them.
  • Trigger locks: the triggers are Hall effect. For a regular game they go all the way down. Flip the switch for FPS mode and they become a short click, almost like a mouse click. For Fortnite or Call of Duty, where you need that fast trigger, this is amazing.
  • TMR sticks with a 1,000 Hz polling rate. They're supposed to prevent stick drift.
  • Works on a lot of devices: Switch, PC, Android and Apple, over Bluetooth, or with the USB connector on PC for low latency.
  • Software: on your PC or phone you can customize the colors, triggers and action buttons. In Call of Duty, for example, you could set one back button for executions and one for sliding.

How it plays

I played Fortnite on PC with the USB connector. It feels really good. It's heavy and weighted, the material is great, and it's definitely a premium controller. The grips are great, it's super smooth, and I had no stick drift. I really like how the buttons glow inside the circles, almost like an infinity mirror.

What I liked

  • The FPS trigger mode is way faster
  • Premium, heavy feel and great grips
  • Lots of programmable buttons, with a lock for the back ones
  • The charging stand: set it down and it charges

Heads up

  • There's a lot to set up in the software if you want to use every feature.

Key specs

From what I show in the video:

  • Hall effect triggers with a short-travel FPS mode
  • TMR sticks, 1,000 Hz polling rate
  • Nine programmable buttons, two on the back, with a lock switch
  • Swappable face buttons
  • Bluetooth plus a USB connector for low latency on PC
  • Works with Switch, PC, Android and Apple
  • Charging stand included

Who it's for

PC and Switch players who want trigger locks and back buttons without paying for a pro controller.

My take

An absolutely amazing controller for the price. I'd highly recommend it. I can't imagine finding a better controller at a better price.
