Season This Beautiful Priority Chef Mortar and Pestle With Me
ReviewBy SuperZydan1 min read
GiftedPriority Chef sent me this mortar and pestle for free. No money changed hands, and all opinions are mine.
I am super excited about this. Yes, really. I've wanted a mortar and pestle forever, and Priority Chef was kind enough to send me one to try. It's super heavy and high quality, and it comes with a beautiful pestle.
Seasoning it, step by step
A new one has to be seasoned before you cook with it. They send you an instruction book, and I followed it exactly.
- Wash it. Warm water, no soap. Carefully rinse out any dust or residue, do it a few times, then let it air dry.
- Grind rice. Add a handful of rice and grind it down. Dump it out and repeat until the rice stays white. I did it about three times.
- Make a paste. Four cloves of garlic, ground into a paste, then a teaspoon each of cumin, salt and pepper. It smells so good.
- Rinse and dry. Rinse it out with water again and let it air dry. That's it, it's ready to use.
What I liked
- Super heavy and high quality
- Clear instructions in the box for seasoning
- The garlic paste came out beautiful
Heads up
- You have to season it before the first use, and the rice step takes a few rounds.
- No soap when you wash it.
Key specs

- Comes with seasoning instructions
Who it's for
Anyone who wants fresh garlic paste, spice blends or salsa without a food processor.
My take
